PART 1 | THE ART OF THE CONVERSATION
My time on air at 919FM has allowed me to do what I love most about radio — have meaningful conversations with people from completely different walks of life.
In Part 1 of my 919FM On-Air Showcase, I look back at three conversations that, in very different ways, represent what I believe radio should be about: entertaining, challenging perceptions and telling stories that matter.
Tom London — a conversation that allowed me to explore the person, the journey and the story behind the public persona.
The Car Guard Conversation — I stepped away from the studio and had a conversation with a car guard about the realities of his job and the misconceptions that many of us carry about people who work on our streets every day. Sometimes the best way to challenge a perception is simply to listen.
A Teacher's Perspective — I sat down with my sister, who has spent more than 30 years as a primary school teacher, to unpack the changing realities facing teachers and learners in a modern world. Education has changed dramatically, and so have the pressures on both sides of the classroom.
People have stories worth hearing. That's the core of great radio.
This is a snapshot of what I try to bring to the microphone: curiosity, empathy, honesty and the willingness to ask questions beyond the obvious.
This is my 919FM On-Air Showcase — Part 1.
