EP82: The Doc and Guru meet The Brandfather – Ranking the Top 50 Brands in South Africa
--:--
This week on The Doc and Guru podcast we chat with Brand Finance Africa CEO Jeremy Sampson about the recent release of the Brand Finance Africa report on South Africa’s Top 50 Most Valuable Brands.
Every year, Brand Finance puts 5,000 of the biggest brands around the world to the test, evaluating their strength, quantifying their value, and ranking those brands across all sectors and countries globally. South Africa’s top 50 most valuable and strongest brands are included in the Brand Finance South Africa 50 2021 Report.
The Brand Finance Top50 Report showcases the resolve & resilience of local brands during the pandemic with Total Brand Value standing at over R460 Billion.
The report has some familiar insights.
The Top 3 sectors banking (23%), telecoms (18%) and retail (13%) still dominate, accounting for over 50% (R247 Billon) of total brand value. But it’s the performance of new entries such as Dischem, Media24 and Sibanye Stillwater that catch the eye. And when it comes to the retail clothing sector find out who is the biggest winner and who is the biggest loser (or is that victim?) during the Covid18 pandemic.
But it’s not all about financial value.
In this podcast Jeremy “The Brandfather” Sampson talks with The Doc and The Guru about the importance of reputation management to overall brand health. MTN may be Mzansi’s most valuable brand for the 10th consecutive year but find out why brands like Capitec and Carling Black Label feature amongst the nation’s Top 5 Strongest Brands, as we unpack the contribution of ethical practice and customer-centric innovation on overall brand health.
