EP66: BRC and Ipsos - RAMS 2021: Ditching the Diary
--:--
On this episode of The Doc and The Guru podcast Broadcast Research Council CEO Gary Whitaker explains how the new Radio Audience Measurement Survey (RAMS) will ensure audio and radio listening measurement will be made Future Ready in 2021.
For the past few years the quarterly release of RAMS listenership figures has been about as interesting and immovable as Margaret Thatcher’s hairdo. But all that is set to change when the Broadcast Research Council (BRC) releases the new RAMS audience data later this year.
Join us on the Doc and Guru Podcast as we chat with BRC CEO Gary Whitaker about the recent appointment of Ipsos to roll out the new RAMS research.
In the past RAMS was solely based on an initial face-to-face interview (CAPI method) and a manual 7-day listening diary. But the new RAMS data collection process is set to do the unthinkable.
DITCH THE DIARY
The new methodology will be based on a Computer-Aided Telephonic Interview (CATI method) which will be conducted monthly (n=36 000 on a rolling 12-month basis) and a parallel Ipsos MediaCell Passive Listening Panel which will track real time linear broadcast and digital audio consumption of 4,000 panellists each weekly.
This episode comes with a #SpoilerAlert. If you were hoping to trend your listenership figures from BRC_RAMS 2020 think again.
Spoiler Alert - When it comes to radio audience measurement 2021 is Year_1. You just have to push the reset button.
