: Sweeping the Land: The Northern Campaign in Joshua 11
In this episode with Rocky Stevenson Pastor of Benoni Bible Church, we examine Joshua 11 and the sweeping northern campaign against the coalition led by Jabin of Hazor. Rather than viewing this as a dry military record, this study explores Israel's encounter with superior enemy technology, including iron chariots and massive cavalry units, and the reassuring command of God: "Do not be afraid because of them" (Joshua | 11:6). We analyse Joshua's uncompromising obedience in leaving "nothing undone of all that Yahweh had commanded."
The text centres on Joshua | 11:1-23, focusing on how God delivers the enemy into Israel's hands when they trust in His power rather than human military might. We discuss how total obedience and divine rescue brought rest to the land.
Ultimately, this passage points us to our Lord Jesus Christ, the true and greater Joshua who left nothing undone in securing our eternal redemption.
Take a moment today to reflect on your own obedience. Trust in Christ's finished work, let go of self-reliance, and enter into His eternal rest.
