: The Sun Stands Still: The Day Yahweh Fought for Israel in Joshua 10
In this episode with Rocky Stevenson Pastor of Benoni Bible Church, we examine Joshua 10 and the miraculous day when the sun stood still in the valley of Aijalon. Rather than treating this text as an outdated myth, this study explores God's absolute sovereignty over creation and His fierce defence of His people. We analyse Joshua's urgent prayer and the divine intervention of hailstones raining down from heaven upon the Amorite coalition.
The text centres on Joshua | 10:1-15, focusing on how "Yahweh fought for Israel." We discuss how this staggering display of divine power highlights the reality that salvation belongs to the Lord, pointing us away from human strength and toward the Creator Himself.
Ultimately, this passage shadows the ultimate victory of Jesus Christ, who conquered every spiritual enemy to secure eternal redemption for His people.
Take a moment today to reflect on God's sovereign care. When darkness closes in around you, remember that the God who commands the cosmos is fighting on your behalf.
