Rolling Away the Reproach: Consecration and Faith in Joshua 5 | Sermon
In this expository radio message from the series The Greater Joshua, we examine Joshua 5:1-12 (Legacy Standard Bible) and explore the profound spiritual truths behind Israel's encampment at Gilgal. Standing on the threshold of the promised land, God commands Joshua to halt the military campaign against Jericho and perform mass circumcision, demanding holy consecration and repentance before tactical success.
This message highlights how God rolled away the shame, guilt, and slavery of Egypt, declaring "Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you." We trace this powerful Old Testament shadow forward to the finished work of Jesus Christ at Calvary, where our sin and condemnation are decisively dealt with, and the true bread from heaven satisfies our souls. Discover how to lay down your spiritual baggage, experience genuine repentance, and step into the consecrated freedom found in Christ alone.
Take a moment today to reflect on your own walk with God. Are you trying to fight spiritual battles while carrying the unconfessed shame of your past? Listen in and be encouraged to look to the cross, where your reproach is rolled away forever.
