Intentional Motherhood – Healing, Purpose, and Raising Godly Children

In this episode of Mother's Corner on Radio Cape Pulpit, host Barbara Jafter speaks with Rory Sung Sabisi – an IT and data specialist, healing hearts facilitator, devotional writer, and mother of two sons – about the theme of intentional motherhood.
Rory shares her personal journey of transformation: she grew up with low self-esteem, self-doubt, and a people-pleasing mentality, always feeling she had to perform to be liked. It was only when she became a mother that she realized she needed help – and that is where Jesus met her. She emphasizes that you cannot train up what you do not know, and that a mother's relationship with God must come first before she can effectively lead her children.
She anchors her parenting in Proverbs 22:6 ("Train up a child in the way he should go") and Psalm 127:3 ("Children are a gift from the Lord"). She practices intentionality through practical routines – including a daily 3 a.m. prayer and worship time with God, which she describes as her source of strength and healing.
Rory also speaks about her work as a healing hearts facilitator with Single Moms Raising Sons, which began when she felt led to give clothes to a shelter on her birthday. She later returned to facilitate transformative empowerment sessions for the women there. She encourages mothers to be honest with themselves, seek healing, and not wear masks – because unresolved pain can affect how we parent.
Her closing encouragement: "Know God for yourself. He is not waiting for you to be perfect – He's just inviting you to come to Him, and He will do the rest."
