In this second session of our Matthew trilogy for Technical Thursday with Rocky Stevenson Pastor of Benoni Bible Church, we pull back the literary curtain on Matthew 5–25 to analyse the five great discourses of King Jesus. Structured to parallel the five books of the Mosaic Pentateuch, these extended sermons outline the permanent constitution, commission, and future consummation of the Kingdom of Heaven.
Our exposition traces these five structural blocks chronologically, beginning with the internal righteousness demanded in the Sermon on the Mount across Matthew 5–7 and the gritty operational briefing of the Missionary Mandate in Matthew 10. We then explore the judicial turning point in Matthew 13, where Jesus shifts to parables to reveal the mysteries of the kingdom to humble hearts while concealing them from the self-righteous. Moving forward, we unpack the foundational manual for local church order and radical interpersonal forgiveness in Matthew 18, before concluding with the sobering prophetic weight of the Olivet Discourse in Matthew 24–25. This final address shifts our focus toward tribulation, the future of Israel, and the absolute necessity of ongoing readiness and faithful stewardship while the King is away. We invite you to listen to this deeply structured overview and reflect on how your life aligns with the
