Title: Wise Stewardship & Strategic Missions: Counting the Cost in Luke 14
Are faith and strategic planning opposites, or do they work hand-in-hand to advance the gospel? In this message, we address the common misconception that preparation reveals a lack of dependence upon God. Instead, Scripture reveals that wise, deliberate planning is a fundamental aspect of biblical stewardship.
By anchoring our hearts in the absolute sovereignty of God, we explore how God Himself is a God of order who works through perfect timing and predetermined purposes, from creation to redemption. Looking at the instruction of Jesus in Luke | 14:28–30 and the wisdom of Solomon in Proverbs | 21:5, we discover why raw enthusiasm and zeal without wisdom are not enough to sustain cross-cultural missions. True missionary stewardship requires us to diligently count the cost, evaluate resources, and anticipate structural needs before entering the mission field. Furthermore, the missionary journeys of the Apostle Paul in Romans | 15:20 and Romans | 15:24 demonstrate that holding specific, strategic plans with open hands is a powerful expression of faith, rather than a sign of unbelief.
Listen now to reflect on how your local church can blend fervent prayer with intentional, diligent preparation to build enduring works that glorify Yahweh among the nations.
