Zechariah 9–14: The Pierced Shepherd and the Reigning King
In this Technical Thursday Bible overview with Rocky Stevenson Pastor of Benoni Bible Church, we complete our journey through Zechariah by exploring chapters 9–14, where the prophetic focus shifts from immediate restoration to future fulfillment. Building on the call to return and the promise of the coming Branch, this session traces the arrival of the humble King (Zechariah 9:9), the rejection of the Shepherd (11:12–13), the piercing that leads to repentance (12:10), and the fountain opened for cleansing from sin (13:1).
As the prophecy unfolds, we are brought to the climactic Day of Yahweh—where judgment and deliverance meet, and where Yahweh Himself stands as King over all the earth (14:9). This is a sweeping vision of redemption: a suffering yet victorious Messiah, a purified people, and a world ultimately brought under the holy reign of God.
Zechariah reminds us that God’s purposes move forward through both suffering and triumph—and that His kingdom will surely stand.
