The Geneva Bible — From Original Languages to Everyday Understanding

In this second session on the Geneva Bible (1560) with Rocky Stevenson Pastor of Benoni Bible Church, we move beyond its historical origins and into the demanding work of translation itself. Drawing from Psalm 119:130; 2 Timothy 2:15; 2 Timothy 3:16–17; and Nehemiah 8:8, this episode explores how faithful men laboured in Hebrew and Greek to bring clarity to God’s Word for ordinary people. We consider the challenges of language, the role of theology, the necessity of careful handling, and the Spirit’s work in illumination. Ultimately, this episode calls us to examine our own response to Scripture—reminding us that while access is abundant today, true understanding still requires diligence, dependence on God, and a hunger for His Word.
