The Holy Spirit and the Global Mission of the Church
In this episode of Fantastic Friday with Rocky Stevenson Pastor of Benoni Bible Church, we explore a foundational truth about missions: the spread of the gospel is ultimately the work of the Holy Spirit. Looking at Acts 1:8 and Acts 13:1–4, we see both the promise and the pattern of Spirit-empowered mission. Jesus declared that His followers would receive power when the Holy Spirit came upon them—and that they would be His witnesses from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth. The book of Acts then shows how that promise unfolded as the Spirit empowered believers, directed the church, and sent out gospel workers.
This episode highlights how the early church depended on the Spirit rather than human strength, how missionary work flowed out of healthy local churches, and how the message of Christ spread across cultures and nations. We also consider what this means for believers today: every Christian is called to bear witness to Christ, every church has a role in God’s mission, and the Spirit continues to advance the gospel around the world.
Join us as we reflect on the Spirit’s power, the church’s calling, and the unstoppable progress of the gospel to the nations.
