Craig Peters - Such an iconic voice.

What a morning it was for me, an avid horseman, to sit with an iconic voice of South African horse racing.
Just to hear the voice invokes the adrenalin rush.
I remember the 50cents of school boy bets, the "should I, shouldn’t I" of bigger bets. I was never a player in the large sense of the racing world, but as a young rider I listened to the late Ernie Duffield, at the Durban July.
Friends and I relived every moment with Sea cottage, when he was shot.
A friend Chris and I rode on our bikes after school to the racing stables in Durban and begged to groom horses, and we did this as often as we could.
I remember the late Fred Rickaby the trainer was really tolerant of us.
Once horses are in your blood you have a problem.
To sit with Craig Peters bought back the wonder of horseracing. We had horse heroes in those days. Boy do I feel old.
