How reliable is the Bible?

John 7:53-8:11 and Mark 16:9-19 are not found in the earliest manuscripts of the Bible but have been included in most modern versions - why is this? Where did they come from? How did they end up in our modern translations, and how does this affect the reliability of the Bible .. Bible sceptics can say well, what else has been added or removed?
