Irene Fischer UNCENSORED : I Am Still Here

--:--
I absolutely love Irene. We became close family in our years together as budding broadcasters at Tuks FM. So this interview was right in the core pulse of my heart.

Irene Fischer is an award winning author and motivational speaker who lives in South Africa. She is a former radio personality whose debut, I Am Still Here (a nonfiction memoir) won two SA Independent Publisher Awards, including the Miriam Tlali prize for best autobiography/memoir.

After a life-altering accident that permanently changed the ebb and flow of her brain, Irene quickly realized that there exists an enormous information gap regarding Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) which often causes to awful preconceived ideas and rather ignorant remarks.

She decided to do something about it and wrote her memoir in order to inspire change in the lives of those living with the repercussions of a TBI as well as their loved ones. To educate the general public and to shed some light on the often heavy topic of brain damage in order to diffuse the distasteful stigma that so often clings to it.

"I strive to cultivate understanding in each person I meet which will hopefully lead to compassion, respect and much needed consideration to anyone living with a disability."

Her book is available in English, I am Still Here, and Afrikaans Ek is Nog Hier.

This month's episode deals with those moments when we lose life's purpose. Truly the darkest area a human being can be in. The only time we gravitate off the beaten track, to our lives "unknown unknown's". Proceeding forward is as cliche as forgiving yourself. But everyone is a statistic. We…

The Soundtrack of my Life Episode 3 - What If?

Episode 3 deals with looking back on our lives, and dedicating today to dropping the "what ifs?" we have in our lives. Trauma and devastation are in human nature what we place predominant focus on instead of harnessing power from our wins and successes. I will prove in this episode,…

The Soundtrack Of My Life Episode 4 - Forever Young

I am a nostalgia geek. I love anything that takes me back to the 80s and early 90s when I was growing up with so much freedom from distress and apathy. But. I am nostalgic, period. Milestone moments throughout life, that when banked, and sourced on - add spark to…
