Military to decide on Hijab charges

Today is the day when the director of military prosecutions is expected to decide on whether to withdraw the charges against Major Fatima Isaacs of the SANDF. Now as many of you will remember Isaacs stands accused of wilfully disobeying a lawful order to take off her Muslim headscarf worn under her uniform beret. The case was postponed twice in November. During a previous hearing Isaacs received an interim relief from military allowing her to continue wearing the disputed clothing item until a final ruling has been made on the matter.
