AMEC reacts to BDS ''investigation" in Mohamed Desai harassment case
--:--
An independent investigation into allegations of sexual harassment leveled against BDS SA Director Muhammad Desai has cleared him of being disciplinary action. This follows US academic Sang Hea Kil accusing Desai of sexually harassing herself and two other women on March 21 while visiting Johannesburg to attend a conference on Palestine.
According to the statement the investigation found that: “… there is no rational basis in law to take any disciplinary action against Mr Desai. The allegations against Mr Desai premised on all the statements of the complainants, their witness and Mr Jeenah’s interview cannot be sustained and are unfounded.”
The report has also criticized the Board of BDS SA for the delay in dealing with the matter.
Joining us online is Naeem Jeenah director at Afro-Middle East Centre and the host of the conference on Palestine which the three complainants attended. He has been in contact with them and will inform us on how they have taken to the news about the investigation
