One of the world's most pressing geo-political problems is Kashmir, a state that straddles the southern Himalayas and India and Pakistan. The people of Kashmir have wanted self-determination for decades, but an unwelcome occupation by India in one half of the country , and a more benign one by Pakistan in the other half, is a question as unresolved as the Palestinian one. In May this year, a study on human rights abuses in Indian occupied Kashmir was released. It makes horrifying reading.
