Radio luminary Ebrahim Gangat passes away

--:--
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.

South Africa's Muslim media fraternity has lost one of its most famous voices, the inimitable radio personality Ebrahim Gangat. The radio legend, fondly known as Ebrahimbhai, lost his battle with cancer. His passing will leave a huge void in the field of alternative media in which he featured for more than two decades. Gangat started at Lenasia-based Radio Islam and shaped the future of the airwaves of community radio. He then took up the cudgels at Channel Islam and mentored many young journalists, who have become influential radio and mainstream media personalities. Until before his illness, he had been the breakfast show host at Salaamedia. Uncle Ebrahim had a unique style of radio, resonating voice and exuberant personality, which endeared him to thousands of listeners. He will be sored missed on air.

We make dua that Allah SWT grant Uncle Ebrahim the highest place in Jannah and forgive his shortcomings Ameen. We make dua that Allah SWT grant Sabrun Jameel to the Gangat family, Salaamedia and all his colleagues and friends, Ameen
