--:--
A study conducted by Stellenbosch University that found coloured women have an increased risk for low cognitive functioning due to low education levels and unhealthy lifestyle behaviours has been widely criticized. The study is called the ‘Age and education effects on cognitive functioning in coloured South African women” and it was was conducted by researchers from the university's Department of Sport Science.
For their sample, they used a group of 60 women (18-64 years), separated into four age groups and two education groups.
Two researchers have critiqued the study. Joining us now is Shanel Johannes, a UCT final Masters student in politics, as well as Shaheed Mahomed, an SA History online researcher
