Tributes and tears flow for Voice of the Cape's Nur Morton

Inna Lillaahie wa inna ilayhi rajioon

It is with immense sadness and complete shock that we convey the news of the passing of VOC sales consultant Nur Morton. Nur is the wife of presenter Shafiq Morton and the daughter of the late Shaykh Ebrahim Hendricks of the Azzavia Masjid.

Aunty Nur will be remembered as one of the most caring and kind staff members. She was warm, bubbly, humourous and had a fun-loving personality. She had a beautiful soul and a heart of gold. Her death will leave a huge void in the sales team, who were a very close knit bunch.

She was an anchor for Shafiq through his challenging career in journalism and more recently, was a source of support to him during his many book projects.

Aunty Nur's bright and cheerful personality certainly lived up to the meaning of name!

She will be sorely missed by all.

We make dua that Allah SWT grant her Jannatul Firdaus and forgive all her shortcomings, Ameen. May she rest in eternal peace, ameen

May Allah Almighty grant Shafiq and their children Ulfah and Layth sabrun jameel and ease during this difficult period, Ameen
