Capetonians lose almost a week in traffic each year
--:--
Listen guys, so traffic I don’t need to tell you what a nightmare traffic is in Cape Town – and I feel its far worse since the start of the year. On most week days, traffic starts picking up from 2.30 pm in the afternoon already, which previously was unheard of.
So yesterday, we actually picked up an article stating that the average Capetonian spends a massive 162 hours each year sitting in traffic, the equivalent of nearly a week. According to a Global Traffic Scorecard by INRIX which analyses the traffic congestion and mobility trends in more than 200 cities across 38 countries, Cape Town is ranked 28th in terms of traffic congestion.
So to help us understand why our roads are so crazy, is Megan Bruwer, the project coordinator for the Stellenbosch Smart Mobility Laboratory. She’s also a lecturer in transportation engineering at Stellenbosch university
