"Day Zero" and the defunct desalination plants

The two multimillion-rand desalination plants that was established to help avert Day Zero has allegedly stopped working. A daily production of approximately 7 million litres of waters were expected to be delivered by the two plants and cost more than R250 million each. Water activist from the civic group STOP COCT visited the two sites last week and noticed the silence emanating from the (Strandfontein) plant.
