Access to the area of Bonteheuwel was recently closed, during a shutdown protest by residents voicing concern about the ongoing gang violence and crime in the community.

This follows the recent increase of fatal shootings, including the latest incident, in which six people were killed within 24 hours. Three people, including two females and one male aged between 40 and 52 were released on a warning shortly after their arrest yesterday.
