Whilst disease prevention might be highly encouraged by the public health sector, there seems to be a growing interest from public who are choosing not to vaccinate their children especially amongst the Muslim. In response to this the Islamic Medical Association of South Africa (Imasa) has recently issued a statement On Vaccination particularly for public that have concerns about the permissibility of immunisation in Islam.
