The Place of Preparation – Mastery, Training, and Becoming the Woman God Designed You to Be

In this episode of She Excels on Radio Cape Pulpit, host Amy Sonne delivers a powerful and inspiring message for Women's Month, focusing on the place of preparation – a crucial stage in the process of becoming from encounter to influence. She emphasizes that preparation is the real work – it is what makes everything that comes after it possible.

Drawing from Matthew 12:33 ("Make a tree good and its fruit will be good"), Amy explains that the quality of our fruit depends on the behind-the-scenes work we do. She highlights the importance of mastery, training, mentorship, coaching, and pruning – all of which happen in the unseen season of preparation. She uses the examples of Bezalel and Oholiab (Exodus 31), master craftsmen filled with the Spirit of God, who were appointed to build the tabernacle because they had already developed their skills. God did not choose unskilled people and hope for the best – He chose those who had allowed themselves to be trained.

Amy also references Paul's words in 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, where he compares the Christian life to an athlete's training – disciplining the body so that he himself would not be disqualified. She reminds listeners that what you tune into, you turn into (T.D. Jakes), and that preparation often comes wrapped in uncomfortable seasons – difficult bosses, rejections, betrayals, setbacks – all of which are shaping tools in God's hands, deepening our roots and building capacity.

She challenges women to reflect on key questions: What are you learning right now that aligns with your assignment? Who is currently sharpening you? What uncomfortable seasons are preparing you for where God is taking you? If God increased your influence today, would it reveal readiness or expose a lack of preparation?

The episode concludes with a declaration of commitment to the unglamorous work of mastery, a prayer for discipline and capacity, and a reminder that preparation is not optional – it is the key to influence, to excellence, and to hearing the Lord say, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
