Dr. Ray Legodi returns to the studio for an engaging conversation with Pastor Bongiwe Naile, CEO of AFM Welfare Ministry, the official welfare ministry of the Apostolic Faith Mission of South Africa. AFM Welfare was established in 1938 and registered as a National Welfare Council in 1945, with a mission to promote welfare work in its broadest sense across South African communities.
Pastor Naile shares that the ministry responds to some of the country’s most pressing challenges, including poverty, crime, family breakdown, AIDS, substance abuse, addiction, and violence against women, children, and older persons. At the heart of AFM Welfare is a commitment to care, protect, uplift, and develop those in need. She explains that the ministry’s vision is not only to assist people in crisis, but also to empower communities by helping others to help themselves. This makes empowerment and upliftment the true measure of lasting success. Pastor Naile, who is married to Stephen Vuyani Naile and blessed with three children, also shares her personal journey and the heart behind the work she leads.
