Are SA’s boardrooms evolving?

South African boardrooms are showing signs of real progress in diversity. However, leadership roles and decision-making power remain largely in male hands, and signs of stagnation are emerging in board renewal and oversight practices.

That’s according to the 2024 South Africa Board index published by an executive search and advisory firm.



The annual study tracks board composition, organisation and remuneration across the 50 largest companies on the JSE by market capitalisation, including those with primary and secondary listings in the country
