Life Matters | Education: Should Sex Education Be Mandatory in Christian Schools?

In recent years, several global organisations have stressed the importance of increasing knowledge about bodies, gender, and sexuality. Two transnational policy documents (UNESCO Citation 2019; United Nations Citation 2020) state that sex education is crucial for young people to build self-esteem, develop respectful relationships, and assess and manage risks linked to sexuality, consent, and family life. Despite this global consensus, no other school subject has been as contested, questioned, and subjected to resistance. This is the basis of our question today: Should sex education be mandatory in Christian schools?
