The Minister of Electricity has the power, but can he fix the load shedding crisis?

President Cyril Ramaphosa has transferred electricity generation powers from Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy Gwede Mantashe to Electricity Minister Kgosietso Ramokgopa. In a statement on Friday, the Presidency said the proclamation will provide the minister with the powers necessary to direct the procurement of new generation capacity. This means that the power crisis is now officially Ramokgopa's problem to try and solve.
