Professor Brian Allwood says having a COVID-19 vaccine is an important step for all South Africans to take in the collective fight against the pandemic. For him, being vaccinated felt like he was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief after a year at the coalface, spent treating very sick people in ICU and critical care. His message to all of us? “We all want to get over this. We all want to look at COVID-19 in the rear-view mirror. COVID-19 vaccines are a really important step in reaching a level of immunity that will mean COVID-19 is a thing of the past.”
