Brian Baloyi: Chiefs Won’t Be Happy To Hear Me Say This...

Compared to last season, Kaizer Chiefs have improved drastically from a side that finished outside of the top eight in ninth position during the 2018/19 campaign to leading the Premier Soccer League (PSL) standings and challenging for the title this season. Despite this success, Amakhosi and their coach Ernst Middendorp had come under criticism before the suspension of football, for their lack of creativity and poor form against teams who are lower in the table. Kaizer Chiefs legend Brian Baloyi did not mince words when providing his analysis to SL Radio.

Baloyi stated. “I think the coach plays according to the strength of his team, and looking at his style of play [and] what he has at his disposal, the way they’ve been playing, it’s been just - and I’m sorry to say this, and I know [Chiefs] haven’t been happy with me saying this - but they’ve been one-dimensional. That’s the biggest challenge, that’s the biggest problem. If you close down the flanks so that they can’t cross the balls, there’s not much. [If] they can’t score from set-pieces, if you look at their goals from open play, it’s just a handful.”
