When should you take down your Christmas tree?

Christmas tree 'specialists' seem to believe that the Twelfth Night is considered to be either on January 5 or January 6, and that is when your tree should be taken down. Superstition also has it that tree spirits living in the greenery during winter (Northern Hemisphere) must be released back outside once Christmas is over.
