‘At Any Cost - The Civilian Catastrophe in West Mosul, Iraq’
--:--
You’ll recall that last week, we chatted to the Iraqi ambassador about the situation in Mosul and yesterday, Amnesty International released its latest report, stating that the tactics used by Iraqi forces and their U.S.-led coalition allies in the battle for Mosul violated international humanitarian law and might amount to war crimes.
The rights group released its latest report yesterday called ‘At Any Cost: The Civilian Catastrophe in West Mosul, Iraq’.
According to the report Islamic State group had also flagrantly violated humanitarian law by deliberately putting civilians in harm's way to shield their fighters and impede the advance of Iraqi and coalition forces.
To chat more about this is Nicolette Waldman, Amnesty’s researcher on Iraq, who co-authored the report on west Mosul
