Fresh and Thato spoke Founder and CEO of Zulzi, Vutlharhi Donald Valoyi on the story behind the success of Zulzi and his humble beginnings from Ntshuxi village in Limpopo, one of five siblings, and taught himself higher-grade maths during the school holidays because his school didn’t offer it. That determination took him to Wits, then through the corporate world of software development and a technical lead role at FNB. In 2013 he took a calculated risk and left to build something of his own. That something began as a way to get textbooks and electronics to students within the hour. It became Zulzi, an on-demand delivery platform. His team also built core parts of the original platform behind Checkers Sixty60, an app that reported R25.5 billion in annual revenue in August.
