About: Prof Gillian Drennan is an Associate Professor in the Wits
School of Geosciences, with a PhD in Geology and Geochemistry from
the University of the Witwatersrand. Her research interests include gold
and uranium mineralisation, coal geology and geoscience education,
with particular interest in understanding the concept of deep time. She
has supervised numerous MSc and PhD students and has received
several awards for her contribution to geoscience education.
She previously served as Head of the School of Geosciences,
becoming the first woman to hold the position. Her research has
included work on the Witwatersrand Basin and more.
