‘Don’t Wait’ - families urged to report missing persons immediately

Families searching for missing loved ones are urged to report cases to police immediately and provide accurate information that can assist investigators. This comes as the number of missing people in Southern Africa continues to rise.
Speaking to Jacaranda FM Newswatch, Missing in Southern Africa spokesperson Priya Ranchod said families should not wait for a missing person to return before taking action.
Ranchod said the first step is going to a police station to open a missing-person case and providing SAPS with a recent photograph and a detailed description of the missing person.
This should include information about where and when the person was last seen, what they were wearing, as well as identifiable features such as hair and eye colour, tattoos, piercings, and birthmarks.
