
NCC set to launch opt-out registry to curb unwanted marketing calls and messages

South African consumers are set to have greater control over unwanted marketing calls and messages as the National Consumer Commission (NCC) prepares to launch a national opt-out registry for direct marketing.
Speaking to Jacaranda FM Newswatch, NCC representative Phetho Ntaba explained how the system will work, what consumers and businesses can expect, and how the commission plans to deal with marketers using international numbers to bypass South African regulations. NCC says they have done everything in their power to apply with applicable standards and update their system whilst continuing to update our consumers of updates and changes
