Created in the Image of God: The True Vine – Abiding in Christ and the Secret of Nothing

In this eleventh episode of the Behold the Bride series on Radio Cape Pulpit, host Sylvia Colville explores Jesus' powerful analogy of the vine and the branches from John 15. Recorded as part of the Created in the Image of God programme, this episode examines the three characters in the parable: Jesus the true vine, the Father the vinedresser, and believers as the branches. Sylvia unpacks what she calls "the secret of nothing, getting everything"—the revelation that branches can do nothing apart from the vine, yet through complete dependence and abiding in Christ, they bear much fruit. Drawing on Andrew Murray's teachings, she emphasises that salvation is one hundred percent the work of Jesus, and our part is simply to abide, trust, and surrender in obedience. Using examples from nature, including the tender branch of the fig tree and the pruned rose bush, she illustrates how true spiritual transformation cannot come through knowledge or behaviour modification alone, but only through the life of the vine flowing into the branch by the Holy Spirit. The episode closes with a preview of next week's discussion on the role of the Father as the vinedresser.
