University of Johannesburg produced a clinical performance of round three at Varsity Netball 2026, handing defending champions North West Univesity Eagles their first defeat of the tournament with a convincing 60-43 victory at the Callie Human Hall in Bloemfontein.
The result was one of four big talking points on the opening day of Bumper Weekend 2, with the University of the Free State Kovsies maintaining their unbeaten start, University of Pretoria-Tuks claiming their first win and Maties bouncing back against the Madibaz.
UJ coach, Bongi Msomi, told OFM Sport that she is thrilled with her teams performance.
