
#Treasury| SALGA Limpopo responds to the latest developments around municipalities

The South African Local Government Association in Limpopo says the developments around the National Treasury temporarily withholding the July 2026 equitable share transfers to selected municipalities in the province and across the country is a bitter pill to swallow. SALGA says municipalities also need ensure that they practice fiscal discipline and ensure that public money is properly managed. Speaking to Nghamula Chauke, SALGA chairperson in Limpopo, councillor John Mpe says there are some interventions that have been put in place to assist the affected municipalities.
