Thomas Msengana and the team spoke on the realities of period poverty, this in light of last Friday being Menstrual Hygiene Day and an interesting blood stain campaign on the front pages of The Star, The Mercury & Cape Times, raising awareness on ending period poverty, breaking menstrual stigma and improving access to sanitary products and hygiene infrastructure around the world. Thomas asked listeners if they were aware that millions of schoolgirls can’t afford sanitary pads, leading to self-esteem issues and at times having to stay away from school for days. What can we do to help those who don’t have access?
