Nova Cares Friday - CHAIN

As part of our Nova Cares Fridays Initiative Karlien paid a visit to CHAIN in Swakopmund. CHAIN stands for Children with Handicaps Action in Namibia.
The centre does incredible work with the children that attend the classes there and you can see the love and care of all the staff.
Karlien spoke to Elizabeth Jonas who is the principal of CHAIN and they discussed all the services that they offer to the children as well as the needs they have to continue doing their brilliant work.
A short summary of their history: In 1992 three mothers with Down's Syndrome children founded the Down's Support group in Swakopmund to establish a parent-to-parent "help-line". From their own experience it was clear to them that parents with special needs children need a lot of support, both for themselves and for their children. Although initially it catered for children with Down's Syndrome it was extended to include all special needs children.
