Proceedings at the Madlanga Commission took a hilarious turn on Tuesday when a former high-ranking police official got a piece of tissue paper stuck on his forehead.

Julius Mkhwanazi, the former deputy chief of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), was in the middle of giving evidence when he momentarily paused to wipe his face.

While Mkhwanazi was wiping sweat from his forehead, a piece of tissue paper remained stuck.

Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga pointed out the situation to the witness, lightening the heavy atmosphere for a moment.

Mkhwanazi explained that it was "due to sweating".
