Residents of Vuyelani Village in Ba-Phalaborwa Local Municipality say the recent heavy floods have worsened the poor state of service delivery in the area by the municipality. Community members say they have not had water supply since the heavy rains started about three weeks ago and have resorted to buying water. Speaking to Nghamula Chauke, community representative Simon Seruba said pipes have been washed away and the municipality is failing to provide relief through water tankers. Still on this, Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality Mayor Merriam Malatji has acknowledged the three-week water shortage and says the bulk pipeline at the water Selati River has been damaged due to severe flooding but officials are working on creating a bypass as a temporary measure.
