“Occupy the Factories!” – WASP and Youth Movement Respond to Job Cuts

Loading player...
As waves of retrenchments hit South African industries, the Workers and Socialist Party (WASP) and its youth wing, the Socialist Youth Movement, are urging workers to take radical action by occupying factories and mines facing shutdowns. Calling it a “jobs bloodbath”, the organisations say what we’re seeing isn’t just economic downturn but a class war against workers. WASP says workers must fight back not just for jobs, but for control. Phemelo speaks to Workers and Socialist Party Executive Committee Member, Mametlwe Sebei on how the movement plans to turn this crisis into a call for change.
