7 Days or We Walk? PA Draws a Line Over Kunene’s Comeback

The Patriotic Alliance is turning up the heat in Joburg's coalition politics - giving the ANC just seven days to reinstate Kenny Kunene to the City of Johannesburg mayoral committee. This comes after Kunene was cleared of any wrongdoing following an internal investigation into his controversial presence at the Sandton home of businessman KT Molefe, who was arrested in July. Ironically, it was PA leader Gayton McKenzie himself who removed Kunene pending the probe, but now that he's been cleared, the party wants him back in office, immediately. The ultimatum? If Mayor Dada Morero doesn’t act, the PA says it’s ready to pull out of the ANC-led coalition in the metro and potentially from the broader Government of National Unity. Kunene speaks to Phemelo about the political fallout. He says it's not just about him, it’s about principle, fairness, and respect for coalition partners.
