Gaza Flotilla Sets Sail from Tunisia Despite Attacks

Defying drone strikes earlier this week, the Global Sumud Flotilla has finally set sail from Tunisia in an attempt to break Israel’s blockade of Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid. The convoy carries activists from over 40 countries, including Greta Thunberg, Irish actor Liam Cunningham, and Barcelona’s former mayor Ada Colau. Organisers insist the mission is peaceful and aimed at opening a corridor for desperately needed supplies. Reporting from aboard one of the ships, Al Jazeera says the flotilla is headed straight to Gaza without stops. Phemelo speaks to SA delegate Dr Fatima Hendricks about the risks and hopes pinned on this voyage.
