Santaco Ekurhuleni says government still doesn’t take the taxi industry seriously. Leaders met Gauteng transport officials in Kempton Park after last month’s shutdown sparked by the impoundment of taxis alleged to be operating illegally. While Santaco pushes for proper operating permits, the Gauteng National Taxi Alliance says the industry also needs to be modernised with drivers trained in customer care to keep up with growing competition.
