The DA says Tshwane Mayor Nasiphi Moya has confirmed she will repay around R270,000 she was overpaid while serving as an official in the municipality. The party claims Moya only acted after being publicly called out, noting this is not the first repayment she has had to make. At the time of the overpayments, Moya worked in the office of the chief whip and later as chief of staff to former mayor Stevens Mokgalapa. ActionSA, however, has hit back, accusing the DA of trying to discredit Moya’s leadership and turnaround efforts in Tshwane. The party’s Michael Beaumont says the DA is projecting baseless allegations while ignoring scandals involving its own former mayors.
